Why Kindle Unlimited is a Game-Changer for Book Lovers

If you love reading, you’ve probably heard of Kindle Unlimited – Amazon’s subscription service that lets you read all the books, audiobooks, and magazines your heart desires, without having to buy each one individually. Sounds too good to be true, right? Well, it’s not! Let me break down why Kindle Unlimited is so awesome for bookworms.

1. An Entire Library at Your Fingertips

With Kindle Unlimited, you get access to over 4 million titles, from e-books to audiobooks to magazines. There’s literally something for everyone: romance, mystery, sci-fi, non-fiction, you name it. Whether you’ve got a specific author in mind or just want to dive into something new, you’ve got endless options. The best part? You can borrow as many books as you want – no limits. Want to read 10 books in one month? Go for it!

2. No Due Dates or Late Fees

One of the biggest perks? No pressure to return books by a certain date. You can keep books for as long as you need – no late fees, no stressing about finishing a book in time. It’s perfect for people who like to take their time with a book or those who just get too busy to read for a few days.

3. Read Everywhere, on Any Device

You don’t need to own a Kindle to use Kindle Unlimited. You can read books on your Kindle device, Fire tablet, or even on the Kindle app, which works on your smartphone or tablet. Whether you’re on the couch, on the bus, or waiting in line at the coffee shop, your next read is always with you. Super convenient, right?

4. Audiobooks and Text-to-Speech – Bonus!

If you’re an audiobook fan (or want to be), Kindle Unlimited has you covered. Many e-books come with an audiobook option, so you can listen as you go about your day. Plus, there’s a handy text-to-speech feature that lets you listen to any book, even if it doesn’t have an audiobook version. Whether you’re running errands, cooking, or relaxing, you can keep reading while doing other things. Talk about multitasking!

5. Affordable and Worth It

When you love reading, the cost of books can add up quickly. Kindle Unlimited gives you access to a huge library for one low monthly fee. No need to buy each book individually. If you’re someone who reads a lot, this can save you a ton of cash in the long run. Why pay for one book when you can have access to so many?

6. Find New Authors and Genres

Kindle Unlimited isn’t just about the big-name authors – it’s a great way to discover new voices and genres you might not have considered before. There are tons of indie authors whose work is only available on Kindle Unlimited, so you can explore fresh stories and get hooked on a whole new author or series. Plus, you can read books from genres you might not usually pick up, and you’re not locked into buying something if you don’t love it.

7. Exclusive Content and Deals

Kindle Unlimited subscribers often get access to exclusive content, early releases, and special deals. You might even score discounts on other Amazon services or free books. It’s a little bonus to make the subscription even sweeter!

Tribute to Dr. Eleanor ‘Reenah’ McGill (1939-2021)

It was with great sadness we learned that our dear friend Dr. E. Reenah McGill passed away at the end of last year. She will always hold a very special place in our hearts.

Eleanor “Reenah” McGill was born in 1939 to James and Maude McGill in Onalaska, Wisconsin. She had a passion for knowledge earning a Master of Arts, Master of Chinese Medicine, and a PhD of Philosophy in Oriental Medicine. She was still practicing acupuncture.

Throughout her years, she also lived in Germany, Georgia, Minneapolis, and LA before settling down in the Weston area of Wisconsin to be able to enjoy her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to travel to China, Peru, Mexico, taking an Amazon Cruise and travelling to so many other countries.

She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Maude and, her siblings: Frank McGill and Deb Kropelin. Reenah’s memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

We first met Dr. Reenah McGill at her clinic in Los Angeles. She was impressive in the scope of her knowledge in her medical practice. She used her skills as a doctor of Chinese medicine, neurobiofeedback, and a new type of acupuncture called Esoteric Acupuncture, developed by Mikio Sankey, to make a remarkable difference in her patients. Reenah was a highly accomplished scholar and practitioner, always looking for new topics to explore and learn about in detail and overcoming any challenge with determination and resolve.

Books by Dr. E. Reenah McGill

Due to her type 1 diabetes condition which developed suddenly late in life, she became very interested in nutrition and other healing modalities. Dr. McGill and hypnotherapist Dr. Zaugg collaborated and published ‘Eat Right Lose Weight, Introducing the 5 Element Nutrition & Hypnosis System’ which is available on Amazon.com.

What Makes A Website Great!

Is it time to update your business website?

Does your website inspire action? If the answer is Yes! then your website is doing it’s job.

If not, what can you do to make it better? Ask yourself:

Can anyone find your website?

  • are you on the map, as they say? Can search engines find your website?
  • does your domain name represent your brand?

Is it easy to use?

  • is it pleasure to click around?
  • does it look good on a mobile phone or tablet?

Does it present you and your business in a credible way?

  • are there reviews or testimonials about you?
  • does it list your credentials on the About web page?

Can the visitor easily buy or request your product or service?

  • do you have an email opt-in request?
  • do you have a contact form to request your service?
  • do you link to a shop where it is easy to buy your product or service?

Is it current or out-dated?

  • Does your website represent your current business focus?
  • does the platform get updates or upgrades frequently enough to keep up with the changing internet landscape?
  • can your website handle sudden increases in traffic?

If you answered NO! to any of the above questions, it might be time for an overhaul of your website.

Here are some steps you can take:

  1. Define the goal for your website – what do you want the visitor to learn, experience, buy etc.
  2. Streamline it so it is easy to use and content loads quickly
  3. Brand yourself. Evaluate whether you are consistently using your brand across all platforms – website, social media, email communications, etc.
  4. Make it mobile friendly – view it on your phone and tablet as well as on a laptop.

The use of a muted color background allows you to overlay your company logo or product giving your information greater emphasis.

Each color creates a specific reaction, yet certain colors are better choices than others for the majority of brands and websites. For instance, blue is considered the safest choice. It is the most common “favorite” color among the majority of the population, and is commonly associated with feelings of trust, authority, and reliability.

Begin with what feeling you would like to convey to your visitors. For health and wellness, green is generally a better option. Alternatively, to get your visitors excited and drive them to take action quickly, red has been shown to be more effective.

For more color theory and design ideas, here is an interesting article which goes into more depth.

Celebrating the photographic works of Walter Huber on National Camera Day

June 29th is National Camera Day. When you look around, do you see something that inspires you? Take a snapshot with your cell phone and share it with the world!

Technology has brought the world to life through Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, etc., all wonderful vehicles for sharing our experiences in realtime. The opportunities for self expression offered by the camera are limitless.

Today we’d like to celebrate the works of the late Walter Huber : photographer, who had an uncanny ability to explore the contrast of light and dark in a beautiful way, mixing reality with mystery.

‘Tulip 1’ by walter huber

Walter preferred black and white photography so that he could print his own images and exercise more control over the contrasts. He used several cameras over the years to explore his craft: a Hasselblad, a Leica Flex, a 1930 collectible Leica and a 4×5 format view camera.

Walter created images that revealed his depth of insight and his great appreciation of life’s mysteries, and towards the end of his life, in the late 1990’s, he also dabbled in digital photo art just as technology was beginning to transform the industry.

We invite you to visit walterhuberphotos.com to enjoy his photos, or snap some of your own, whether with a camera or cell phone, on National Camera Day.
