Motivation is often the toughest part of sticking with any lifestyle change, and when it comes to becoming healthy and happy, the journey can sometimes feel daunting. But Steve Mittleman’s new book, which is currently ranked #3 in Amazon’s Health Fitness and Dieting category under Vegan, offers a refreshing perspective on how to stay motivated without the pressure of perfection.

One of the key themes of Mittleman’s book is a powerful mindset shift: There is no “wagon” to fall off of. In a world where dieting and lifestyle changes are often framed as “good” vs. “bad,” Mittleman dismantles that binary approach. His philosophy is simple yet profound—there’s no need to “get back on track” because you’ve never “fallen off.”

Life hacks to living a sustainable lifestyle

Mittleman draws on his own experiences and insights to show how anyone can remain motivated—even when life gets busy, or you hit a rough patch. This book isn’t just about what you eat; it’s about changing how you think and approach your relationship with food, health, and your personal goals.

Instead of focusing on perfection or an “all or nothing” mentality, Mittleman teaches readers how to embrace the journey and keep moving forward—one meal at a time. His practical tips help readers understand that slipping up is part of the process and doesn’t mean failure. This makes it easier to stay on course and enjoy the rewards of a whole food lifestyle without getting bogged down by guilt or frustration.

The book’s success on Amazon highlights the need for this kind of approach. As more and more people turn to a more natural, whole food diet for health, ethical, and environmental reasons, Mittleman’s message resonates with those who need guidance on staying motivated through the ups and downs of transitioning to a new healthy lifestyle.

So, if you’re looking for a book that empowers you to keep going, no matter what, Steve Mittleman’s latest release is a must-read. It’s not about following strict rules; it’s about enjoying the ride and building lasting habits that lead to a healthier, more fulfilling life.

Review of ‘There Is No Wagon’

“After reading There Is No Wagon, I found Steve Mittleman’s book useful, uplifting, and inspiring.  Steve leverages a lifetime of experience paired with common sense to help us identify and understand why we eat the way we do and how we can eat in ways that work best for us as individual.  We are all different and that is a key premise of the book, but the bigger premise is we should eat in such a way that is best for your body and embrace it.

Whether it’s the concept that “falling off the wagon” is a misnomer and really doesn’t’ exist or pointing out that despite people identifying as big boned, “Have you ever seen a big boned skeleton?”, Steve skillfully balances observational humor with a keen understanding of the dietary struggles people from all walks of life deal with on a daily basis, but in a way which is not preachy.  The book is a series of well thought out, common sense talking points clearly compiled from a lifetime of real experiences as an entertainer on the road and a regular person trying to get through this thing we call life.  These are practical observations which are meant to give you pause so you realize what you are doing, why you are eating what you are eating, and helping create insight into choices which can be better for your body.  These are morsels of insight with smart ingredients.

Steve is not telling you to feel guilty for ordering the $5.00 24,000 calorie craving meal from taco bell.  What Steve is saying is that you should consider that what you put into your body is what you get out of your body, so instead of consuming 24,000 calories in one sitting, making deals with yourself to do better, and living off the readings from your bathroom scale; if you are aware of the issue, you can choose to make better choices.  That’s power.  The power of awareness and choice.  The key to weight loss is smart choices, a bit of exercise, and finding ways to be happy.  Celebrate life.  It’s the only one you have.  And ignore the scale.  The scale is a distraction.

I enjoyed the writing style and found it to be an easy read, hearing the author’s voice as I read.  I also appreciated the way it is written in the respect that it does not have long, winding chapters which allows you to easily pick up where you left off.  The book is constructed in short sections, each one just a few paragraphs.  Read the paragraph and then read it again.  It’s insightful and real.  Digest it, if you’ll pardon the expression.  Steve Mittleman makes good sense and wants you to make good choices, but most importantly, live your life well.

Book Review: There Is No Wagon – When It Comes to Dieting You Can’t Fall Off by Steve Mittleman

I had the pleasure of reviewing Steve Mittleman’s debut book, There Is No Wagon, a refreshing and witty take on the often overwhelming and frustrating world of dieting and food. As a comedian, host, auctioneer, and now health advocate, Steve Mittleman brings his characteristic humor and honesty to a subject that’s far too serious for many, our very personal relationship with food.

With a lifetime of ups and downs in weight management, the author opens up about his personal struggles with yo-yo dieting, revealing how these battles led him to discover a more sustainable and peaceful way to approach food. His message is simple but profound: There is no “wagon” to fall off of when it comes to dieting, just the journey of loving yourself and your body through the process of staying healthy.

The book is a mix of candid anecdotes, hard-won lessons, and practical advice. The author doesn’t claim to be a certified expert, but he’s certainly an expert on his own experience—a perspective that resonates deeply with anyone who’s ever felt the emotional and physical toll of dieting. He speaks directly to those who struggle with emotional eating, offering hope and a path forward. His approach is centered on embracing real food, and the impact it can have on your overall well-being—physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. His honesty is refreshing, and his light-hearted touch makes even the most personal moments relatable and uplifting.

What sets this book apart from other diet books is author Steve Mittleman’s unique voice. While it’s a health book, it’s also inspirational and motivational, sprinkled with a dose of humor. The humor keeps things light, even when the subject matter can be heavy. His jokes often offer insight into how we can approach our struggles with food without self-judgment.

He encourages readers to love themselves through the process, accepting that there will be setbacks, but also celebrating every step toward a healthier, more balanced relationship with food. His hope is that readers can take what works for them from his journey and apply it to their own lives, without feeling the pressure to conform to rigid rules or standards.

There Is No Wagon  is more than just a book about dieting; it’s a celebration of self-acceptance, resilience, and finding balance. Whether you’re struggling with your own food battles or simply looking for a fresh perspective on health and wellness, Steve Mittleman’s relatable, no-nonsense approach is a welcome guide. A perfect read for anyone ready to stop “falling off the wagon” and start embracing the process of loving themselves and their food choices.

Verdict: An inspiring, humorous, and refreshingly honest book that blends personal experience with practical advice—There Is No Wagon is a must-read for anyone navigating the complex world of dieting and self-acceptance.
